Hotel Review – Hotel @ Yangon Heritage
My last two nights in Yangon were well spent in this hotel – Hotel @ Yangon Heritage. We checked into this hotel after a 5 hours bus ride without air conditioning. Tired, hungry and sweaty. Check in was smooth and we got a family room with a single and a king size bed! A refreshing fruit platter was swiftly provided. We finished it in light speed.
You probably walk past this hotel every day without noticing it because it is situated in a prime location. Sule Pagoda is just 5 minutes walk away. A supermarket next to Sule Shangrila is just opposite to the hotel. Other main attractions Bogyoke Market, Immanuel Baptist Church, St. Mary Cathedral, BEER STREET (51st street), China town…are within walkable distance! (Yangon is super hot, when I say it’s within walkable distance, it’s real!)
Photos speak louder than words. It is very spacious with strong air-conditioning under such heat.
Daily breakfast is served on the 4th floor alfresco with street view. I was looking for something light as I had food poisoning before getting to Yangon. They offered 3 types of breakfast.
I had set A and C on both days and they all tasted very fresh. The portion was sufficient to make me full.
The hotel was formerly an old building. The management revamped and turned it into a colonial style property with simple architectural design. Due to structural constraints, staircases can only be used but not lifts. They therefore do not recommend elderly or kids to stay for safety purpose.
That said, this hotel is great for solo and couple travellers as its impeccable location just brings so much convenience.
Staff is extremely helpful. If you have big baggages, they will help you out and deliver them into your room. (So you can avoid the steep staircases!)
The only downside of this hotel would be its mosquitoes problems. They have already engaged in pest control. Staff was diligently killing the mosquitoes every day using the greatest invention of all – electronic racket for killing mosquitoes. But well, mosquitoes are everywhere in Yangon.
My travel experience told me that this hotel is going to be popular due to its location and affordable pricing. Book it before it’s too late.
